Three of a set of seven silk handfasting bands, in 3/1 twill. The patterns include various Celtic knotworks, the Tree of Life, and a personalised bindrune.

The patterns on this band are loosely based on finds from Birka, Sweden. It is woven with baby alpaca wool. I wove this band mostly to experiment with the possibilities that this threading offers.

A wool band in missed-hole technique. The knotwork and dragon designs are based on finds from Birka, Sweden. The bindrune is the logo of the Norwegian band Wardruna. I wove this band as a gift for Einar Selvik, the creative genius of Wardruna. Since missed-hole works best for diagonal lines, I devised a technique that allowed me to weave the perfectly straight vertical line needed for the bindrune logo.

This wool band is based on archeological finds from the Celtic Iron Age, 800-400 B.C. found in a salt mine in Hallstatt, Austria. Like the original “Hallstatt III” band, it is done in pebble weave.

This set of seven handfasting bands is made with delicate silk, woven in 3/1 twill. The patterns include variations on the Celtic Eternity Knot, the Tree of Life, and a personal bindrune.
